TMD Jaw Pain & Dysfunction

TMD Jaw Pain & Dysfunction

Temporomandibular Disorder (TMD) otherwise known as “jaw pain and dysfunction” can arise from a variety of causes such as:

  • trauma, (whiplash, blow to the chin, fractures)
  • repetitive strain (grinding or clenching)
  • orthodontia (braces)
  • head forward posture
  • scoliocis (curvature of the spine)
  • sleep apnea
  • voice related concerns (teachers, singers, musicians)

Pain in the jaw can severely limit the ability to open the mouth, eat certain foods and can cause headaches or migraines.

At Rebound we take jaw pain seriously and have a comprehensive assessment, treatment, education and home care plan to reduce muscle tension and strain. We have helped many clients with jaw problems reduce their pain, improve their mobility and speech performance.

Angela Mackenzie RMT, is certified to treat all muscles of the head, neck, hyoid (Adam's Apple) and jaw-outside and inside the mouth. She is happy to discuss any questions or concerns you have regarding how massage therapy could help you treat jaw related pain and dysfunction.
