What to Expect

What you can expect at your first visit

A therapist will greet you and provide a client history form for you to fill out upon your arrival.

It is best to arrive 10 minutes before your first session to allow time to find the clinic, fill out a new client form and ask questions.

Each client appointment includes these 5 steps:

  1. Administration
  2. History review and assessment
  3. Evaluation and discussion with you about how to proceed with treatment
  4. Treatment
  5. Patient education, home care and or exercises

Your concerns and goals are very important to us, as we can tailor our techniques and treatment modalities to achieve the desired results. After your appointment, a personal treatment plan will be discussed which could include a series of three appointments and then a reassessment if symptoms are not yet resolved.

Your therapist will be with you every step of the way, from initial greeting, treatment, and booking of your appointments. It is this level of service that distinguishes us from other health care clinics.

What is a normal response to massage treatment?

Your response to massage treatment may or may not include:

A local increase in heat around the treated area which indicates a loosening of muscle and connective tissue.

After 10-20 minutes there may be some discomfort. This is due to the small, controlled increase in inflammation caused by massage techniques and indicates a stimulation of the healing process.

Over the next three days there may be some discomfort which improves every day.

After 3 to 5 days there is a reduction in local soreness and symptoms improve along with a decrease in tension.

Quite frequently the initial treatment will resolve one pain and cause another one to emerge. This occurs because the body has been compensating to accommodate pain. An example would be a "limp" posture associated with leg or foot pain that also causes back pain.

Our therapists usually recommend a series of 3 massage treatments to reveal all body compensations and to systematically locate and treat all symptoms.
